They Manage to Mitigate the Adverse Effects of Alzheimer's

New discovery is the biggest progress on Alzheimer's research in the last fifteen years.

Alzheimer's is a diffuse cerebral atrophy, usually associated with dementia, which is usually found in the senile age. It consists of progressive memory loss and other mental abilities. It is caused by the death of neurons in areas of the brain causing atrophy.

Today with the advances in medical research, Alzheimer's disease is one of the most widely investigated and ascertained by the disconcerting effect on the human mind and because

more and more people enter the world of Alzheimer forgetful.

Gradually, these developments have allowed her to inject possible solutions, at least in regard to mitigating the effects for the patient, as well as small victories for carers. The last one has become the most important to date.

Recently, two teams dedicated to scientific research on Alzheimer's Disease (United Kingdom and France) were on target to identify three new genes, an event which was echoed by the prestigious journal Nature Genetics.

Since 1993, no associated genes have been identified. Of these, CLU, PICALM CR1-Y were known some progress. However, the novelty is that both the first and the third, share the role in reducing harmful inflamed areas in the brain caused by a high response of the immune system.

Julie Williams of Cardiff University and Director of the study conducted jointly by researchers from both countries said that this is the “greatest progress on Alzheimer's research in the last fifteen years.”

This is not for less, if we take into account that in 2005, 0.37% of the global population suffering from some type of dementia, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), this will increase by 11 % in just one decade and 22% by the year 2030, due to aging of the population.

For the former, any solution to mitigate the stressful effects of this disease is welcome, because many sufferers involved. Williams noted that these findings become “significant and conclusive,” and predicted that it could prevent 20% of cases of this disease.
