Scientific Study Show That Obesity Affects Male Fertility
Obesity negatively influence male fertility, as males with higher body mass produce less seminal fluid than those with normal volume, the Ministry of Health of Peru, by detailing that 21% of Lima residents are obese due to lack of physical activity and poor nutrition.
After publicize a preliminary study prepared by Aberdeen University in Scotland, the MoH said that previously there were indications that obesity or fat to slow production of sperm. Therefore, this recent research does nothing more than endorse the suspicion.
This preliminary study was presented as part of the annual meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, held in the city of Barcelona, where it was reported that as part of the study analyzed the semen of over five thousand three hundred men .
Tania Lopez, the Health Strategy for Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable damage, said obesity is a risk factor for damage other diseases as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular complications, including some cancers such as gastrointestinal.
Noting that should strengthen the fight against this new epidemic called obesity, the expert reiterated that obesity is caused by excessive consumption of calories, carbohydrates, and low physical activity.
It further stated that in Peru children and adolescents increasing exercise less and have practices similar sedentary adults.
In addition, the children are losing the habit of exercising, then, are replacing this activity by watching television, using the Internet or network games that do not bring any benefit to their physical or mental.
To prevent obesity and have a healthy weight the Peruvian Ministry of Health recommended drink eight glasses of water a day, physical activity at least 30 minutes a day, eating five servings of fruit daily, and eat vegetables combined with carbohydrates.
