The Noise Affects More Men Hearing, According to Report

The study concludes that further noise affect males than to females, is the largest so far conducted studies that have explored the relationship between diet and hearing loss.

It is expected that the findings of research conducted to 3.559 people with hearing loss, are presented at the annual meeting of the Head and Neck Surgery Foundation American Academy of Otolaryngology, San Diego, California, in October.

Meanwhile, another study found that older men who took high doses of folate may reduce their risk of hearing loss in about 20%.

The figures for hearing loss in men and women from the study of auditory test data 5.290 persons 20 to 69 years. It is estimated that thirteen percent of them suffer from hearing loss induced by noise.

Prevention

Among subjects, the men were 2.5 times more likely than women to develop this type of hearing loss. The white men were married and that Hispanics had the highest risk, the study authors.

In another study, researchers found that taking higher doses of antioxidant vitamins does not improve the chances of a man to avoid hearing loss. However, folate, a B vitamin reduced the risk by 20 percent among men over 60.

Foods that are high in folate include green leafy vegetables like spinach, lettuce, asparagus, beans, fresh or dried, the products of liver and fortified cereals.
